Through readings and site visits, you will learn how natural features have helped shape the economy and sparked recreational opportunities for residents and visitors to this beautiful section of Oregon.

EASTERN COLUMBIA RIVER GORGE & CATHERINE CREEK
ThIs course is best explored from mid April through early May, when a variety of wildflowers create a magical atmosphere on trails just east of Hood River. This course includes short hikes at the Memaloose Hills Trail, where hundreds of balsam root plants create a field of gold in late April. Other beautiful walks are at the Tom McCall Preserve and at Catherine Creek in Washington, where the historic Camas plant creates a sea of blue in late April. A drive along the Historic Columbia River Highway to Rowena Crest reveals outstanding Gorge scenery.
